The benefits of Extenso KIT075 V2

Extenso is an all-in-one multiplex, fast, easy and automated solution that the dairy industry uses to detect the widest range of contaminants in milk in just a few minutes. The new Extenso KIT075 Version 2 will present several advantages for milk testing processes.

Improved sensitivities

2016-12-05 Extenso 2 droite result alpha - Extenso PhotoThe sensitivities of four contaminants have been improved to better match their respective MRL. That way, we provide a solution to minimize the milk waste. The adapted sensitivities are as follows:

  • Aflatoxin M1: new limit of detection at 500 ppt (closer to Codex Alimentarius MRLs).
  • Cefalexin: new limit of detection at 10 ppb.
  • Sulfadoxine: new limit of detection at 90 ppb.
  • Spiramycin: new limit of detection at 125 ppb.
  • Streptomycin: new limit of detection at 200 ppb.

Adapted Chloramphenicol sensitivity

In order to ensure an adequate level of health protection, new reference point for action for chloramphenicol will be applied to food of animal origin produced in the European Union. Also, to food of animal origin imported from third countries starting from November 2022. This is described in COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) 2019/1871 regarding the action of non-allowed pharmacologically active substances. Decision 2005/34/EC is repealed by this REGULATION for substances present in food of animal origin.

To help food testing laboratories meet the specifications set down by the European Commission on reference points for action, Unisensor has developed an improved version of Extenso KIT075 V2, which meets the legal requirement of detection capability at 0.15 ppb.

Increased robustness

Capture d’écran 2022-07-05 à 10.42.40The incubation temperature was increased from 30°C to 35°C. Thanks to this small change, you will benefit from:

  • Increased robustness of the testing procedure
  • Improved migration, including for other milk matrices like goat and ewe milks
  • Reduction of invalid results rate to 1% of tests.

The updated version of KIT075 will be rolled out as of 1st of January 2023. The KIT075 V2 will replace the existing version.
